On30 20ft Reefer

On30 20ft Reefer kit with fully opening hatches

No trucks or couplers.

Chassis: Solid, laser cut rigid chassis ready for trucks, couplers, additional body and/or further detailing. All parts have alignment features for easy assembly.

Body: a strong poplar ply box covered in 1mm premium laser ply.

Roof: separate sub assembly to aid painting.

Reefer door and hinge details with jigs for assembly and placement.

ladders: enough for 4, with pre-formed rungs.  jig for alternative ladder-less rungs.

4 working roof hatch assemblies. these are built up as sub-assemblies then added to the roof.

Roof walk and supports.

Brake staff, brackets and brake wheel

0.56mm Steel wire for truss rods and a truss rod bending jig.

Truck mounts have 2 possible positions allowing use of various trucks: Kadee HO 501, Tichy HO archbar trucks, Bachmann, San Juan trucks. the chassis can has the space to take quite large wheels, still hold a reasonable tight radius and keep a hunkered down look.

Coupler mount designed for Kadee HO 148 "whisker" couplers. Can also use older No5 couplers with simple modification.

The chassis frame design leaves a lot of space for adding weight, but probably not needed with the reefer assembly on top. My prototypes are 100g without weight - in the right zone for good running.  weights not supplied in the kit

NOT INCLUDED: NBWs for end beams. stirrups (buy or make from left over ladder rungs), turnbuckles, trucks, couplers.
