Product Description

On30 10.5" (42ft) Gallows Turntable kit.

The motor is no longer included with this kitbut the shaft coupler, motor mount and motor screws are included. The motor is readily available on ebay, Search "0.6rpm gearbox motor" - £10-£15 from several sources, often with free shipping.  Sometimes you can find suppliers on Amazon.

A very handy size of gallows turntable when your largest loco is a Bachmann 2-6-0 Mogul. Great for 4-4-0 tender locos, as well as 3 truck Shay/ Heisler / Climax conversions. Being used here with a Porter-Garratt bash. On30 is fun!

On30 and On3 options are standard - other O scale narrow gauges possible.

Basic dimensions in images below.....scroll down!  Hole required is only 280mm.

The bridge is built up on a integral jig making for easy alignment. All parts that require angles, cutouts, cross joins are laser cut from  basswood to ensure the correct size, alignment and make assembly straight foward.

Gallows bridge detail includes laser cut square nuts, several sizes of washer as well as stays, stay saddles and stay ties.

The spider is simple and effective. Rather than create a complicated mechanism that costs a lot but cant really be seen, I have "suggested" the spider ring, and this allows me to use KHM's standard turning plate and pick-up assembly methods within the "spider space". That way the kit is able to draw on the proven performance of our other pit turntables.

The pit base design follows our existing gallows turntables with proven design and simple to assemble.

The bridge wheel assemblies are KHM's latest turntable wheel "technology". The angles are set by the assembly - its almost foolproof! Wheels are 12mm and double flanged. they turn freely on their axles and track the circle rail which allows for assembly tolerance.

Below the pit floor, the turntable is now powered by a very capable motor rated at 0.6rpm @ 12V,  for smooth running and slow speed. The shaft turns in oil-bearing bronze bush

Bridge rail: for this kit I have decided not to include any bridge rail. fitting your own track is so easy. If modelling in On30 then Peco SL100 track (OO or HO) ties fit neatly between the jig rails. In all cases the rail sits on the crossbeams.

Bridge deck has On3 and On30 options. with planking and bolt holes engraved.

Assembly is straightforward and broken down into sub-asssemblies. The kit is packed with this is mind, each sub-assembly having its own pack.

Instructions are mostly photos with lots of angles to take you through the build in a step by step fashion. They are no longer available as a printed option. Its takes lots of ink (cost), they are heavy (shipping).  You will be emailed instructions when I ship the product. if you wish to see them before purchase then I'm happy to send without any obligation... electrons are free :)

US modeller Dennis Rouse made the kit below. Dennis weathered the wood using a Miniwax stain Classic Gray #271. Great job on the pit floor gravel finishes it off.
