O scale wagon turntable

O SCALE WAGON TURNTABLE KIT

for 7mm/ft O scale standard or broad gauge (or dual!)

Now set up to use GW370 motor gearbox readily available on Ebay  OR manual operation

With a diameter of 4.5" (115mm) this turntable will comfortably accommodate RCH1923 pattern wagons.

Rail length at 32mm gauge is 110mm.

Rail length at 49.2mm broad gauge is 98mm

Features:

MOTOR support.  The motor is not included as are many suppliers on EBAY. Search "GW370 MOTOR GEARBOX" OR "0.6RPM Motor gearbox". cost is typically between £12 and £15, usually with free shipping. The motor mount, motor screws and shaft coupler are included in the kit - you will just need the motor :)

Manual operation. Very simple! The turntable shaft is 4mm. This is the same as Meccano.  A crank to turn 90deg is supplied in the kit.

The rails and deck are built onto a subdeck which hold the 4mm shaft with a milled brass T piece. She ain't slipping!

A PCB under the subdeck carries power to the rails using sprung plunger contacts - a robust type used by the electronics industry.

The turntable features continuous power-routing (not a split ring design). Polarity is changed with a DPDT switch for DC(or DCC) use, or a DCC reversing module can be used. the advantage of this for a wagon turntable are there is no dead zone angles - you can put entry/exit tracks at any angle.

The standard kit now has FOR 32mm GAUGE ONLY a ready soldered track assembly that keeps the rails central with Peco Nickel Silver code 124 rail ready to drop into the subdeck.  If you are a broad gauge modeller (or wish to DIY) then I will only supply the PCB ties leaving you to supply your own rail and solder the rails in place yourself.

Obechi wooden deck planking has engraved planking (scale 8 inch planks) and bolt holes. Nothing looks like wood but wood!
