Test Track Box

 Test track laser cut box.

Maintain/program your locos away from the layout.

I used to have a piece of wood with some track on it, but frequently found the kit I needed for the job was scattered all over the place. Now this handy box can store all the needed kit in one place, ready for quick use, and occupies less space on the workbench.  Job done :)

No equipment is included.  This kit is ONLY the laser-cut box!

International Shipping Note: because of its shape and weight has to be shipped on its own (or with multiple test boxes). So this will incur  and additional shipping costs if you order with something large of a different shape eg roundhouse/tunrtable. Basically I am saying if you wish to minimise shipping - order 2 or 3 with a friend(s) :)

The kit is laser cut from 4mm birch ply.  Much stronger and friendlier than horrid MDF :)

The internal compartment walls have laser cut holes to pass cables through, but the back of the test box is solid - leaving you to drill holes for wires as needed, according to your use.

Test track "well": 645mm x 90mm. You can mount track directly in the well, but I use an insert so I can change set up (I run dual gauge O and On30)

Angled Compartment size: internally 210 x 160 x 94mm, The open hole is 182 x 92mm. The kit comes with the 3 in-fill pieces for the pockets with simple hinge and latches to create removable covers. Or you can use them to mount other panels into the box and still have them removable for access to cables behind.  I use one compartment for a UP5 DCC loconet port and a throttle holder. 

It is possible to combine 2 of the compartments if you need space for a larger piece of equipment.

Drawer size: 200mm x 160mm x 50mm deep.  Big enough for all present Digitrax throttles including the larger DT602. Also big enough for the myriad things needed for loco and stock maintenance.  3 drawers.

Total box size: 651mm long, 180mm deep, 185mm tall.

Need a modification??

This box has been design to be flexible in use. I happen to use it with Digitrax kit.

The original customer that had the idea wants it for DC use for a Gaugemaster control - so his has a custom insert for his particular controller. If the info is at hand I can usually come up with something.

If you have an idea needing a simple modification that also makes sense to me (ie not going take forever to do the CAD and someone else may want it!) then please contact me using the contact page and we can discuss. That's how this box came to exist in the first place!
