On30 Icing Platform  (Ice Dock)

This is a really COOL structure for your railroad!

WORKING DROP PLATFORMS FOR ICING!!  UNIQUE to KHM in model form. these are based on a Union pacific design.

THIS IS NOT JUST A BAG OF STICKS!!!!

Designed to be used with the Ice House, but could use a scratched building, or low relief ice house front to the rear

Reefers had to be pre-loaded and then topped up with Ice blocks or crushed ice mixed with salt. This could be done slowly and manually from the back of a truck pulled alongside a single reefer, but more easily and much faster with an Icing Platform. The lower platform can be used for off loading goods, or ice blocks brought in by empty reefers.

EACH EXTENSION SECTION IS 11". For longer order additional 11" sections, not multiple kits!!,

3" x 11 1/4" footprint. (includes loading bay and rear steps)

dock depth  = 2"

ice deck height = 2.75"  (matches Mount Blue 18ft,  Kitwood  20ft and Bachmann 30ft Reefers)

Lower platform height  = 0.9"  same as other KHM On30 platforms.

laser cut posts, deck and roof frame work, with jigs to set the correct levels, Made up in logical sub assemblies.

Laser ply decks, roof and framing form a rigid structure once assembled. lime wood posts.

WORKING drop platforms with chains. I am really proud of these! No one else has tackled the, and they truned out great. They are made in subasemblies to keep assembly straight forward, but I wont lie - thats the fiddly part of the build. Chain supplied.

12 Ice blocks laser cut from clear Acryilc - with a small amount of work can be truned into great looking ice.

extra planks for accessing reefers.

Loading plaform to rear. Access steps and stairs, rear handrail detail is laser cut and designed to aid assembly with notches etc. They are not just sticks. I don't do lazy design!

Can be built in reverse. with loading 

NOTE THE ADDITIONAL PLATFORMS ARE DESIGNED TO SEAMLESSLY EXTEND THE ICE DOCK.

There are no printed instructions with the kit. Instructions are sent by pdf when shipped. This way they have no cost, and I can put very many constructions photos and diagrams in them.
