On30 18ft chassis kit (pack of 3)

On30 18ft chassis flat car (Without trucks, couplers or fittings).

Chassis and flat car body kit.  Laser cut mostly from premium grade laser ply.

Makes up into a really solid, reliable chassis and flat ready for trucks, couplers, additional body and/or further detailing. All parts have alignment features for easy assembly.

Deck size, deck height and the gaps for stake pockets matches that of Bachmann 18ft cars so making it useful for Mount Blue body kits as well as a scratch building aid.

Kit includes steel wire for truss rods and a bending jig. The cross members have features to hold the wire in place, and designed-in anchor points. Turnbuckles and other fittings not supplied - you can buy them from the same places you get the trucks!

Solebars and end beams have holes laser cut ready for NBWs (not supplied)

Truck mounts are designed to be used with Kadee HO 501, or equivalent Tichy HO archbar trucks with HO 33" wheels. (9.6mm).  Tichy archbar trucks fitted with 10.5mm wheels can also be used with alternative supplied mounting in the kit. 

Coupler mount designed for Kadee HO 148 "whisker" couplers. Can also use older No5 couplers with simple modification. Couplers will be at correct height if you use Kadee or Tichy archbar trucks.

The chassis frame design leaves a lot of space for adding weight. Thats usually the biggest problem with empty flat cars making them run badly without loads. The KHM design has 3 large pockets 3.8mm deep within the subframe so you can make this much heavier than other On30 18ft flats on the market. My prototypes are 115g (4oz) using lead sheet.  weights not supplied in the kit. 3x25mm section steel bar fits nicely too.

Note for my American and Canadian customers. Please check out Wiseman Model Services and Mount Blue Model Company who both have equivalent chassis kits, and offer all the fittings. This kit has been primarily created for UK and Ozzy modellers who have to pay a Queens ransom in shipping, import VAT and customs fees to get US goodies.  That said, I am more than happy to supply them to N.America, but its best done when adding to an existing order for something else to justify the shipping cost.
