O scale corrugated iron - Industrial grade - roofing cap strip

This is a companion pack to the standard 2" wide pack.

 3/4" wide rolled 0.15mm aluminium strips to create your own roofing caps

6 off  3/4" wide strips

Each strip is approx 7" long (Approximately 7" rolled length. Pre-rolled is 10")

Rolled from 0.15mm aluminium sheet to represent industrial grade corrugated iron with a scale 6" rib spacing.

The material has good structural strength and is not easily accidentally dented. It can be etched with PCB etching fluid to varying grades prior to painting and weathering to produce a really run-down look.

Can be cut along the direction of the ribs easily with a craft knife.

Very simple to make the roof caps - just needs the edge of a metal ruler!

1. cut the cap to the desired length (I go with 1.5" to 2"). (make sure you overlap the joints in the rest of the roof!)

2. with the edge of a metal ruler press down hard along the centre of the ribbing to form a crushed bending edge

3. bend to required roof apex angle with your fingers.

4. treat it with PCB etch or paint and glue into place.  Bit of weathering powder and job is done! Mortal modellers can be happy with this :)

5. Only for demi-god modellers: drill tiny holes and insert simulated roofing bolts. (Grandt line sell castings) I've never done it - but it looks great if you have time and patience. Bolts go in the top of the ribs or the roof will leak (!) but if you are a demi-god then you already know this.
